Pastor Powell serves as Annual Juneteenth Banquet Speaker

June 13, 2007

Pastor Powell recently served as the keynote speaker for the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Banquet, which was held on Tuesday, June 12th. Pastor Powell urged those in attendance to celebrate and honor the contributions of those from the past by being involved in changing the world today. He encouraged attendees to reduce isolation, seek information, become involved and thereby make an impact.

The banquet officially kicked off the week long observation of Juneteenth, which marks the date (June 19, 1865), when Texans received word of the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been signed several years earlier.
