Celebrate Godly Fathers

Fathers Matter

By Pastor Cory S. Powell |  June 12, 2014

We live in a time where there is a great void within the family unit. Unfortunately, in many households across this country fathers are absent. Statistics on the National Fatherhood Initiative’s website (www.fatherhood.org) highlights the devastating effects of absent fathers on their children:
Research shows when a child is raised in a father-absent home, he or she is:

  • Four times more likely to live in poverty
  • More likely to suffer emotional and behavioral problems
  • More likely to commit crime
  • More likely to go to prison
  • More likely to abuse drugs and alcohol
  • Twice as likely to drop out of high school
With that in mind, it is important that we celebrate the men who are actively involved in the lives of their children. It is most appropriate that we pause and honor those who choose to remain engaged with their children regardless of the obstacles and challenges.  Join us on Sunday during our 10:00 a.m. worship service as we celebrate fathers.
